Can We Paint Over Gloss Kitchen Doors?
The specialist paint that we use to spray paint kitchen cabinets can be sprayed in matte, satin and gloss sheen levels. The majority of our customers choose our standard satin sheen when we spray kitchen cabinets however there are also many customers who prefer a glossier finish, with matte being the least popular sheen here at We Spray UPVC.
What Is Meant by “Sheen Levels”?
Sheen level means the glossiness of the finish of the paint and is measured by how much light is reflected from a painted surface. 0% is the lowest gloss level and 100% the highest gloss level. By offering 10%, 30% and 70% sheens for spray painting kitchen cabinets, we offer a variety of finishes to suit our customers requirements. Colours can appear slightly different depending on the level of gloss the colour is sprayed in and so it is important to consider the effect that your chosen sheen will have on your kitchen.
Advantages of Painted Gloss Kitchen Cabinets
Gloss kitchen doors are easy to clean as the more glossy the surface is, the less grime will stick to it. Gloss is a durable sheen and when we paint gloss kitchen cabinets, we guarantee that our coating will not crack, discolour, fade or peel for at least 10 years. Whilst a gloss sheen is more likely to highlight any flaws in the surface, if your surfaces are still in a great condition, gloss can be a great option for ongoing cleanliness and durability. Gloss is also a good choice for smaller kitchens, as with more light being reflected from the painted surface, this sheen adds dimension to rooms and the kitchen can then appear larger than it is.

Can We Paint Over Gloss Kitchen Doors?
We can spray our gloss finish over any kitchen surface, whether it be a wooden or MDF kitchen or a kitchen that is already glossy (you can read more about this by clicking here). Our gloss sheen is a lower level than high gloss, with a gloss level of 70% as opposed to high gloss which is 100%.
It is important to make an informed decision when choosing a finish as the different finishes can have almost as much of an effect as colour can! We have matte, satin and gloss samples available to view in our kitchen spray showroom in Stockport.
