How to Get a Quote for Wardrobe Spray Painting
If your wardrobe is looking tired, dated or just the wrong colour, spray painting is one of the most cost effective ways to transform it. Rather than replacing perfectly good furniture, a professional respray can give your wardrobe a brand new look in a fraction of the time and at a fraction of the cost of buying new.
In this guide, we cover everything you need to know about wardrobe spray painting costs in 2026, including what affects the price and how to get a free quote.
How Much Does Wardrobe Spray Painting Cost?
Wardrobe spray painting with We Spray starts from £500 plus VAT. For larger or more complex jobs, costs can range up to around £2,200 plus VAT.
The wide range reflects the variety of wardrobe spray painting projects we take on — from a single freestanding wardrobe that one of our Sprayers can complete in a day, through to large fitted wardrobes that require a team of two working over two days.
We always provide a free, no-obligation quotation before any work is booked in, so you’ll know exactly what to expect before we arrive.
What Affects the Cost of Wardrobe Spray Painting?
Several factors influence how much your wardrobe respray will cost:
- The size of the wardrobe – unsurprisingly, larger wardrobes take more time and materials to spray. A compact freestanding wardrobe is a much quicker job than a full wall of fitted wardrobes with multiple doors, drawers and panels.
- The condition of the wardrobe – if your wardrobe has a vinyl or foil wrap that is peeling or lifting away from the surface, this adds time to the job. Before we can apply our paint, the vinyl needs to be fully removed and the underlying surface primed to ensure a smooth, long-lasting finish. This additional preparation is reflected in the overall cost but results in a far superior finish compared to painting over lifting vinyl. This additional preparation also applies when we spray paint MDF wardrobes. Our teams often spray brand new wardrobes that have been built in raw MDF. As with wardrobes where the vinyl has come away, that raw surface does need to be primed and sanded before it can be spray painted and that adds additional time.
- The colour you choose – we can spray wardrobes in virtually any colour — RAL, Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and beyond. Certain colours may carry a small additional cost. For example, to spray wardrobes in colours such as reds and yellows takes additional coats and time than other colours, as does spraying over dark wardrobes in very light colours, such as whites.
- The number of Sprayers required – smaller wardrobe jobs can be completed by a single Sprayer in a day. Larger projects require a team of two for one or two days, which affects the day rate and therefore the overall price.
- The location of the spray – we are based in Stockport and have teams in Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Tameside. We travel across the UK transforming wardrobes. For sprays based further away, we do need to include travel time, hotels and expense payments within our price.
Wardrobe Spraying Cost Examples
Examples 1 and 2
Both of these sets of wardrobes were spray painted for £500 plus VAT. Each spray took one of our Sprayers one day to complete. They were both completed in option 1, which includes the fronts and edges of the wardrobe doors and any exposed carcass areas. The spray on the left was completed in High Opacity White and the spray on the right was completed in a match to Skimming Stone by Farrow and Ball.
Example 3
These wardrobes were sprayed in a colour match to Pitch Black by Farrow and Ball. The wardrobes were made from raw MDF and so our Sprayer primed and sanded them before he sprayed them. Our customer chose option 2 for this spray, which includes the fronts and backs of the doors. This spray took our Sprayer two days to complete and the cost was £1,100 plus VAT.
Example 4
These wardrobes were sprayed in one day by a team comprised of one Sprayer and one Labourer. The spray was completed for £1,025 plus VAT and that included the fronts and backs of the doors and drawers being sprayed in a match to Elephant’s Breath.
Example 5
The vinyl on this customer’s glossy wardrobes and drawers had become damaged and so a team of two peeled the vinyl away and primed then sanded these wardrobes and drawers before spraying them in two colours. This spray took two days to complete and the cost was £1,950 plus VAT. This spray was carried out in dual colours, Ammonite and Pigeon, both by Farrow and Ball.
Fitted Wardrobe Spray Painting
Fitted wardrobes are one of the most popular items we spray. Because they’re built into the room, replacing them is a significant and costly undertaking, which makes spray painting an incredibly attractive alternative.
Whether your fitted wardrobes are wood, MDF or have a vinyl finish, we can transform them in any colour you choose. The result is a completely refreshed look that feels like a brand new piece of furniture, without the disruption and expense of a full replacement.
Freestanding Wardrobe Spray Painting
Freestanding wardrobes, including older solid wood wardrobes, flat-pack furniture and everything in between, can also be professionally spray painted. This is particularly popular for customers who have good quality furniture that simply needs refreshing or who want to update the colour to match a new room scheme.
Spray painting gives a far more even and durable finish than brush painting at home, with no brush marks, drips or uneven coverage.
Is Wardrobe Spray Painting Worth It?
Absolutely. A new fitted wardrobe can easily cost several thousand pounds once you factor in supply, fitting and any carpentry work required. A professional respray delivers a stunning result at a fraction of that cost, with minimal disruption to your home.
Even for freestanding wardrobes, the cost of a respray is often less than buying a comparable replacement and you get to keep a piece of furniture you already know and love.
Our spray painting is also long-lasting, using professional-grade paint that is designed to resist chipping, fading and every day wear. That is why we provide a 10 year guarantee on our wardrobe sprays.
